National Artists & Writers Convention
First Prize in Miami; awarded again in 1953.
Miami Beach exhibitions
First Prize at the Outdoor Exhibition and three Blue Ribbons from the Miami Beach Woman’s Club.
G. I. Art Show
First Prize and Best in Show.
American Artists Professional League
First Prize in 1953, Best Overall Award in 1955, and Grand National finalist in 1956.

Miami-Dade County issued a proclamation recognizing his artistic contribution and place in the region’s cultural history.
Works in the world
From hotels to civic memory
During the 1950s and 1960s, Gideon supplied original artwork and large-scale decorative commissions for prominent hotels, retailers, and hospitality spaces. His practice moved easily between painting, welded construction, sculpture, relief, and immersive interiors.
At The Pub in Coral Gables, he created three sculpted trees whose limbs stretched across the dining-room ceiling. The success of the installation led to related commissions for other landmarks.

Exhibitions
One-man shows
Gideon presented solo exhibitions in France, Florida, and Georgia, from cultural clubs and galleries to the grand hotels that helped define postwar Miami Beach.
